Run For Your Lives

I have to admit, gentle viewers, I have fallen off the ZAP wagon a bit.

The last few weeks have been very stressful for personal and work-related reasons, as well as the hovering cloud of anxiety in the Query Trenches. I haven’t run as much as I would like, and I am getting a wee bit frightened about possibly getting eaten next weekend.

Nine days until the Run For Your Lives, which is a zombie-infested obstacle-ridden 5K. I actually saw a TV spot for it last night whilst watching American Horror Story: Asylum. And it terrified me.

That could be me next weekend.

Between dodging Gmail’s insidious (1)’s in fear of rejections and jumping each time my phone so much as twitches — and gearing up for National Novel Writing Month — my brain has been reduced to the spark and fizzle of a shambling undead rather than the bright sparkle of a fully alive personage.

I need to go for a run. Maybe it will get some synapses firing in the old noggin’.

My noggin’ could use a few synapses. Had an odd day in which I made an arse of myself this morning (I could blame my pre-caffeine state, but I ought to have asked more questions before passing judgment), but luckily after a few emails everything seems to be smoothed over. My only defense is that I have dealt with a few trolls on this site in the past, so my sarcasm radar when it comes to unfamiliar names isn’t exactly primed and ready.

Update from the Query Trenches 1.4:

Waiting. Lots and lots of waiting. I’ve had a few requests, and I am…waiting. Yep. That’s about the lot of it.

To keep my mind off the waiting bit, you should all enter the Costumed Curses Flash Fiction Contest!

Waiting is really bad. But there’s something worse: rejection. At least during the waiting there is hope. When the waiting ends in rejection, the hope is annihilated.
